LIMITED-TERM APPOINTMENT in HUMAN MOVEMENT - Western Health Sciences School of Kinesiology

The School of Kinesiology at Western University advocates the benefits of physical activity to society by providing a multidisciplinary approach to discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge about human movement and its effects (http://www.uwo.ca/fhs/kin/). In accordance with this mission, we are seeking a Limited-Term appointment in Human Movement to coordinate and teach our new integrated approach to physical activity programming in Kinesiology. This approach emphasizes the links between theory-based courses in Kinesiology and practical movement skills. The modules will focus on individual and group fitness and sport skills, strength and conditioning, and exercise for specific populations. The goal of these courses is to combine sport and physical activity theory in lecture format, supported by movement-based programming.

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree (minimum requirement) in Kinesiology or a closely related field and demonstrated practical experience delivering physical activity programs in various settings, with a variety of populations. Certification with national or international bodies (CSEP, ACSM, etc.) and/or registration within related health professions will be considered an asset. The candidate will have experience in developing/teaching courses in traditional and flexible learning environments and will be expected to develop/foster relationships with community organizations. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in relevant service to the School of Kinesiology, Faculty of Health Sciences and University.            

The effective date of the appointment is August 1, 2019, or as negotiated, for a one-year term (renewable). Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
