The process whereby members are assigned to Regional Groups has changed - This update affects all members, please read carefully:
Previously all members of the OKA were automatically assigned to a Regional Group based on where they live. This was a time consuming and difficult process to administer and involved determining a location on a map and then determining which side of a boundary line that location was on and therefore which group a person was assigned to.
At the beginning of this year, to coincide with the re-designed website, Regional Group Affiliation became part of the "Members Profile" section of the members only area of the website. This means that each member of the OKA now has the ability to chose which group they wish to belong to. This choice could be based on where you live, or where you work...its up to you!......but we would like you to chose if you wish to belong to a Regional Group.
Regardless of which group you chose you will still continue to receive notifications of all Regional Group meetings when they are scheduled via e-kinnection. However if you do not chose a Regional Group you will not receive any group specific information that may be sent out in the future to a specific Regional Group by the Chair of that group.
Beginning April 1, 2011, Regional Group affiliation will be based solely on which group you have chosen from the drop-down menu in the Members Profile section, so if you have not chosen to belong to a group there may be instances in the future where you may not receive information being circulated by the Chair of the group.
Giving the choice to you, the member, will ensure that OKA and Regional Chair resources are applied only to members who are interested in participating in Regional Group activities.
Subscribing takes 2 minutes and costs nothing.........you may not read 99% of the information that is e-mailed to you, but the 1% that makes a difference to you in the future will make you glad you took the time to subscribe.
